Our House Builds Your House

Wait, isn’t Miller’s Ale House a restaurant company? Well, technically, yes, but we take a lot of pride in the ‘House’ part of our name. A ‘house’ means so much more than just the word itself. It means a place where people take shelter, make memories, create a home, and yes, of course, do PLENTY of eating!

Miller's Ale House: Habitat for Humanity Homeowners

Here at Miller’s Ale House one of our Core Values is ‘Engage Community’—and what better way to ‘Engage Community’ than by building homes within them?

In 2017, we opened our restaurant in Winter Garden, Florida. As luck would have it, we were spotted by the team from the West Orange County Habitat for Humanity. The Executive Director, Marilyn Hattaway, reached out to our President, Ray Holden, to see if we might have any interest becoming involved. Ray is incredibly passionate about living our Core Values, so we started to do some research about the program overall, team members interest and learn more about how we could become involved.

One of the ways to become involved was to participate in a home build. This was a hit with everyone and we booked our first build days.

The turnout for our first round of build days was AWESOME– In fact, we even had to request special permission from West Orange Habitat for Humanity to bring more people to participate! Lucky for us, all our experience in building restaurants, also translated into home builds.

Our passion and high levels of participation were quickly noticed by West Orange Habitat for Humanity. They reached out to us with a proposal, “What would we think about not just building the home but paying for and sponsoring a home build?” Fortunately, the Executive Team LOVED the idea!!

As of 2021, we are pleased to announce we have participated in home builds, neighborhood revitalization projects, and two home sponsorships. We couldn’t be more pleased to have our partnership with West Orange Habitat for Humanity and look forward to the next community where Our House comes to build Your House.
